MUDA case: Karnataka high court issues notice to CM Siddaramaiah, wife over plea against Lokayukta B report clean chit

BENGALURU: The Karnataka High Court on Thursday ordered issuance of emergent notice to chief minister Siddaramaiah, his wife Parvathy, in response to a petition filed by Snehamayi Krishna, the complainant in the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) alternative sites allotment case, wherein he has challenged the B report submitted by the Lokayukta police.

Justice S Sunil Dutt Yadav also ordered notice to Lokayukta police, Directorate of Enforcement (ED), Devaraj, the man who sold the lands in question, Mallikarjuna Swamy, the brother-in-law of chief minister, and GT Dinesh Kumar, former Commissioner of MUDA.

The B report was submitted on Feb 12, 2025, and the same was accepted by the Special Court for elected representatives on Jan 28, 2026, exonerating chief minister Siddaramaiah, his wife Parvathi, and others.

Challenging the said decision, Snehamayi Krishna claimed that the special court did not consider the allegations made against the accused in a proper manner, as the issue involved was not a private dispute but abuse of constitutional office.

He further pointed out that the special court allowed investigation against the officials of MUDA arising out of the same action.

According to him, the denotification of land, its subsequent transfer, and the allotment of 14 compensatory sites (to the wife of CM) form a single, composite chain of acts.

A criminal conspiracy under Section 120B of the IPC is founded on a unity of purpose and design. By exonerating the alleged beneficiaries while continuing investigation against the facilitators, the special court has artificially compartmentalised what is inherently an individual action, Snehamayi Krishna further added while seeking intervention of the high court in the matter.
