Madras high court permits DNA test on celebrity chef Madhampatty Rangaraj to assess paternity claim
CHENNAI: Madras high court on Wednesday permitted DNA testing on celebrity chef Madhampatty Rangaraj to determine the paternity of costume designer Joy Crizildaa's child. The court passed the order based on the mutual consent given by both parties.
Justice Senthilkumar Ramamoorthy then appointed an advocate commission to coordinate with Rajiv Gandhi govt general hospital where the test will be conducted, and file a report based on the results to former judge of the court Justice P N Prakash, who was appointed to mediate the dispute between the two.
In Oct 2025, Joy Crizildaa moved the family court, seeking maintenance for her unborn child from Rangaraj. He allegedly married Joy in Dec 2023 and attempted to abandon her as she refused to terminate her pregnancy. On Oct 31, she gave birth to a baby boy.
According to Joy Crizildaa, Rangaraj was duty-bound to meet the financial obligations arising from their matrimonial and domestic relationship, both towards her maintenance and that of the unborn child.
Therefore, she wanted the court to direct Rangaraj to pay 6.50 lakh for monthly maintenance, which included house rent, car EMI, medical, and other living expenses.
