Karan ‘Naitik’ Mehra turns a year older

Starting his career as a fashion designer, Karan Ajay Mehra shot to fame after playing the lead, Naitik Singhania in Star Plus&#39;s popular TV serial &lsquo;Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai&rsquo;. Karan was born on September 10, 1982 in Jalandar and was brought up in Delhi.<br /> <br /> As this chocolate boy of Indian television turns a year older today, we bring you some known and lesser known facts about him.

Though Karan was born in Jalandhar, Punjab, he stayed only for a year there and moved to Delhi with his family. Karan is a fashion designer from National School of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Delhi and studied at Apeejay School, Noida. Before pursuing his acting career, he has worked as a designer for four years in Noida. As a fashion designer, Karan also designed an outfit for Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan. Karan’s father Ajay Mehra is running a construction business and his mother is a homemaker.

To fulfill his acting dreams, Karan moved to Mumbai in 2004 and started assisting renowned Bollywood directors like Rajkumar Hirani and Ram Gopal Verma. He was also seen in movie Love Story 2050, in which he played Harman Baweja's friend. After that, he started doing modeling which helped him to enter in TV commercials. Karan was 21 when he first appeared in front of the camera for the song, Hum To chale Pardes, which also features Rishi Kapoor. He has also appeared in a commercial with Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor.

Before he was selected for &lsquo;Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai&rsquo; (2009), Karan did his acting course from an acting institute in Mumbai. Karan married TV actress and model Nisha Rawal in 2012 after three years of dating. The duo were seen together in &#39;Nach Baliye 5&#39;.

Over the years, Karan has won many awards and recognitions for playing Naitik in YRKKH. The show has become the longest running serial on Star Plus. We wish the actor a very happy birthday and years and years of success!
