<div class="section1"><div class="Normal">BANGALORE: The domestic computer industry, which is on a high growth trajectory, is spawning a new breed of BPO called warranty outsourcing.<br /><br />Local warranty outsourcing is gaining traction at a time when the global tech vendors are flooding the market with their products for which they need local support.
Of late, the Indian computer market has become quite attractive for these companies after the government lowered the duties on computer hardware.<br /><br />In India, the test and repair services market alone is estimated at approximately Rs 200 crore, while the total warranty outsourcing market would be much bigger. As per estimates, this sector would grow at 50 per cent for this year.<br /><br />These services are aimed at providing OEMs with multi-location support in India for technical repair, warranty fulfilment, inventory and logistics management services and technical help-desk under one umbrella.<br /><br />S V Sriram, president and COO, Accel ICIM, said, "Though most IT products are manufactured globally, the companies would need to deliver warranty support locally in India and the best option for this is to partner with local players with right technological expertise and infrastructure."<br /><br />Warranty outsourcing allows companies to be more efficient and to reduce costs while leveraging the manufacturers industry expertise, technology and economies of scale. It gives access to third party best practices and resources and accomplishes the goal of maintaining customer warranty support service levels at a lower cost.<br /><br />Accel ICIM, which has a nationwide presence for warranty outsourcing with over 100 locations, expects other growing sectors like entertainment and education too to embrace this model soon.<br /><br /><formid=367815></formid=367815></div> </div>
