1x1 polls
Pretty routine till the cop falls in love with the dead woman and meets all the positively psychotic suspects (all of them). <br /><br />Setting: One deserted road, the well-known scribe''s house, the murdered woman''s house, the murdered woman''s beach house, the cop''s house, the aunt''s house — all are in and around Mumbai. <br /><br />"She can''t act," said the girl sitting before me. <br />"Uh uh," replied the guy with her. <br />"Just look at her face," she continued...<br />"Face? Where? Huh?" replied the guy, who had been staring at the screen.<br />"Her face," replied the girl through gritted teeth, "That is above her neck. You are disgusting." <br /><br />While I mutely agreed with the girl, I could ''see'' her guy pal''s point of view too, they were staring me in the face from the big screen.<br /><script language="javascript">doweshowbellyad=0; </script><br /><br /></div> </div><div class="section2"><div align="center" style="position:relative; left: -2"><table cellspacing="0" cellpadding="2" align="center" border="1" width="70.3%"> <colgroup> <col width="100.0%" /> </colgroup> <tr valign="top"> <td width="100.0%" colspan="1" rowspan="1" style="" valign:="" top="" background-color:="" f3f3f3=""> <div class="Normal"><img src="/photo/983925.cms" alt="/photo/983925.cms" border="0" /></div> </td> </tr> </table></div> <div class="Normal"><br /><br />The much-touted, much-interviewed ''South African super model'' Ilene Hamman''s twin assets (and the mole that rests snugly between them) commanded more screen presence than the lady herself. If only the twins could act!<br /><br />In fact, Hamman can compete with Gayatri Joshi of <span style="" font-style:="" italic="">Swades</span> for the title of the most irritating through-out-the-movie smirk on her face. <br /><br />Beyond the twins, talent and trying to be tactful, <span style="" font-style:="" italic="">Rog</span> is not bad. The plot is interesting. <br /><br />The movie starts with the orgasmic moans of a woman, who changes into a pair of red heels to answer the door when the bell goes off — this was kind of weird because if you are in a hurry to open the door, you don''t really wait to strap on a pair of heels...<br /><br />Anyway, she opens the door and gets her face blown off. Enter Irrfan the supercop and his second-in-command Munish Makhija who have been told to make an arrest because it''s a high-profile case. <br /><br />Their first suspect is a high-profile media man, portrayed by Suhel Seth, who makes a screeching (jarring and other synonyms) entry. <br /><br />That''s when we realised that Mr Seth was not just making a special appearance but was going to be there for the entire length of the movie. This was his debut on the big screen. <br /><br />Shyamoli Verma too is seen in the movie, playing Hamman''s aunt. With both Hamman and Verma not being able to act, there''s was a case of perfect casting. <br /><script language="javascript">doweshowbellyad=0; </script><br /><br /></div> </div><div class="section3"><div align="center" style="position:relative; left: -2"><table cellspacing="0" cellpadding="2" align="center" border="1" width="70.3%"> <colgroup> <col width="100.0%" /> </colgroup> <tr valign="top"> <td width="100.0%" colspan="1" rowspan="1" style="" valign:="" top="" background-color:="" f3f3f3=""> <div class="Normal"><img src="/photo/983926.cms" alt="/photo/983926.cms" border="0" /></div> </td> </tr> </table></div> <div class="Normal"><br /><br />As for Seth, while in most parts he manages to really irritate at best, he is better at the emotional scenes. He excels in the climax. Playing over-the-top seems to come naturally to him and he does carry it off, convincingly. <br /><br />The best part about the movie though is Irrfan. He plays the cool cop to the hilt, smiles genially and suddenly erupts on screen. The exchanges between Irrfan and Makhija are fun and provide for some of the best moments in the movie. <br /><br />Himanshu Malik as the playboy is a disappointment. He is just not cut out for that kind of role. <br /><br />Beyond the actors, the movie could have done better with some editing. There is a good mix of whodunnit with some wry humour — both carried off well by Irrfan. <br /><br />The surprise element is there, though the climax is some what <span style="" font-style:="" italic="">thanda</span>. And, sin of sins, is a complete lift from the climax in Fatal Attraction. <br /><br />With the Glenn Close-Michael Douglas movie having multiple reruns on TV, the director should have lifted something else, if at all. <br /><br />All in all, a watchable fare.<script language="javascript">doweshowbellyad=0; </script></div> </div>
