Indian Idol Junior 2 Grand Finale

The second season of popular singing reality show Indian Idol Junior came to an end on September 6, 2015. Amidst all the fanfare, the 14-year-old Ananya Sritam Nanda from Odisha was announced as the winner of Sony Entertainment Television’s show. Ananya was bestowed with the trophy by none other than the Bollywood Diva, Sonakshi Sinha, ace composer Vishal Dadlani and the comedian-turned-actor Kapil Sharma.

Here are some main highlights of the finale.

Not far behind were V Nityashree (Chennai) and Nahid Afreen (Assam), who were the runners-up. As the winner of Indian Idol Junior, Ananya took home the winning trophy and a contract worth Rs. 10 Lakhs from Sony Entertainment Television.

After 15 weeks of gala rounds and amazing performances by 13 contestants, the all-girls Grand Finale of the show saw Ananya beating Nityashree and Nahid. A self-confessed fan of Shreya Ghoshal and Arijit Singh, the little singing star considers veteran music composer Anandji of the Kalyanji-Anandji duo as her lucky charm.

Sonakshi Sinha enthralled the audience with a dance routine on her popular numbers Saree Ke Fall Sa, Rani Tu Main Raja, Pon Pon, Tamanche Pe disco and Party All Night. Another major highlight of the finale night was a special visit by Sonakshi's father actor-politician Shatrughan Sinha, who graced the show along with his wife, Poonam Sinha. The duo also interacted with the children.

Stand-up comedian Kapil Sharma, who is gearing up for the release of his debut film Kis Kisko Pyar Karu promoted the film on Indian Idol Junior set. He joined the juniors on stage and sang some hit numbers. Kapil sticked to his comic best and tickled everyone's funny bone by cracking few jokes. The finale also marked the homecoming of the top 13 contestants who cheered on for the final three.

Making the finale a gala affair, Vishal Dadlani also entertained the audiences by crooning some of his hit numbers. Salim Merchant, who has been judging the second season of 'Indian Idol Junior' was unfortunately not present for the final episode. Sources confirmed that Salim had to travel to the US.

Hosts Hussain Kuwajerwala and Asha Negi also added spice and fun to the finale episode.
