The Women's Reservation Bill aims to secure a 33% quota for women in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies, presented as the 128th Constitutional Amendment Bill by the Union Law Minister, Arjun Ram Meghwal. Meghwal explained that once the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam is passed, the number of women's seats in the Lok Sabha will increase to 181. This was the first item on the agenda for the Lower House in the new Parliament building during the five-day special session of Parliament, which commenced on September 19.
