IMA national president RV Asokan said, "Let the investigation reveal the truth. If another doctor is involved, if the institution is involved, if a department is involved, the IMA will not protect them."

He added, "As a team, we met with the victim's parents and were deeply affected. They feel helpless and have expressed their concerns about not being informed about the incident for several hours. They were also not allowed to meet the Principal. We demand that the West Bengal government provide supportive measures for the family. Now that the investigation has been handed over to the CBI, it must be fair and transparent and identify all culprits."

Meanwhile, a team from the Central Bureau of Investigation arrived at the scene after taking over the case following a Calcutta High Court order. The CBI has also dispatched a specialized medical and forensic team from Delhi.

The body of the woman post-graduate trainee was discovered inside a seminar hall at the hospital on the morning of August 9. A civic volunteer was arrested on Saturday in connection with the crime.

Junior doctors across West Bengal continued their ceasework on Wednesday, the sixth consecutive day, protesting the alleged rape and murder of the woman doctor at the state-run medical college and hospital and demanding justice.
