The people who offered prayers inside a Lucknow mall: 1. did not take permission, 2. weren't facing west and 3. prayed for a shorter period than is required — raising the suspicion that it was a staged act to foment trouble

Eight men kneeling in prayers at Lucknow’s LuLu Mall has touched off a storm. A Hindu outfit tried to match the eight with its own chanting of Hanuman Chalisa and a mahant sought to carry out a purification exercise with holy chants.

While the mall authorities have reportedly claimed that the eight men who performed the namaz had no permission to do so, there is some evidence now that the prayers may have been offered only to foment trouble.
