Climate change means monsoon is now no rain for long periods & heavy rains for short periods

After a season-long heatwave from March to May, the north-northwest and central India are undergoing a rainfall deficit, while Northeast India and Bangladesh are hit with devastating floods. Meghalaya’s Mawsynram – the world’s wettest place – recorded more than 1,000 mm of rain on June 17, the highest June rainfall the Indian Meteorological Department has ever recorded for this station. Unofficial records show more than 60 dead and millions stranded due to the ongoing rain floods.
