NOIDA: After camping on the stairs for eight days, Sunil (61) and Rakhi Gupta (55) were finally able to enter their apartment in a Greater Noida condominium on July 28 evening as the tenant who had obstinately refused to vacate relented. Sustained pressure from neighbours, media coverage of the couple’s plight after TOI’s report on July 26, and an outpouring of sympathy and anger from netizens finally made the 33-year-old tenant, who says she is a property dealer, leave.
The next day, sitting in the living room of their 15th-floor flat at Shri Radha Sky Garden, the relieved couple expressed gratitude for the support they had received. Their daughter Priya says, “I want to express my gratitude to TOI for all the help and support. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”
