Animal communicators are in demand as pets show signs of distress during lockdown

DEHRADUN: The Covid-19 lockdown is not just taking a toll on people’s mental health, it can be hard on their furry friends too. As pets show symptoms of anxiety — including refusal to eat and scratching furniture — a number of owners are now turning to animal communicators for help. Animal communicators claim to telepathically speak to an animal and charge anywhere between Rs 700 to Rs 1,000 for a session.

Asha Arun, a Delhi-based animal communicator, has taken over 100 sessions with pet parents since lockdown to help them decode unusual behaviour of their cats or dogs. “Animals can pick up cues from their owners when they are stressed. During lockdown, owners worried about lay offs or health can pass on their negativity to their pets,” said Arun. Communicators in other cities also told TOI that they have seen a spike in inquiries since lockdown.
