Nine-year-old Bruno is awaiting his 'fur-ever' friend -- a kidney donor who will give him a fresh lease of life

It will possibly be the first such procedure of its kind in India -- a pet dog from Pune is awaiting a kidney transplant. What the nine-year-old labrador needs is a dog that will donate a kidney.

Like humans, Bruno, whose renal function has been impaired, needs dialysis to clean impurities in the blood. His creatinine (kidney function indicator) level had shot up to 13.8 against the normal 1.8, said Dr Narendra Pardeshi, the veterinarian who will perform the transplant once a canine donor is available.
