Who is Rinku Majumdar, the woman BJP leader Dilip Ghosh married at 60?

NEW DELHI: West Bengal BJP leader Dilip Ghosh married party colleague Rinku Majumdar in a small ceremony on Friday.

The wedding took place around 7 pm at his Bungalow No. 77. Ghosh, aged 60, wore traditional Bengali wedding attire including a 'topor', and appeared with his bride before the press after the ceremony, seeking blessings.

He mentioned that the marriage fulfilled his mother's wishes.

Who is Rinku Majumdar?

Rinku, who serves in the BJP women's wing, is a single parent to a 25-year-old son who works in an IT company in Salt Lake, West Bengal.

While Dilip Ghosh remained a bachelor until now, this is Majumdar's second marriage, and she has a son from her previous one.

Rinku's son, Pritam, a tech professional, expressed his happiness for his mother but mentioned that he couldn't attend the wedding due to work commitments.

Their acquaintance began in 2021 during morning walks at Eco Park, and their relationship developed gradually, according to close associates.

The decision to marry was finalised during an IPL match at Eden Gardens earlier this month.

The marriage proposal had come from the bride's side. "I proposed to him. He took three months and discussed it with his mother before saying yes to me," she said.

"He may look rough and tough from outside. But from within, he is a very soft person. Most people haven't seen that softer side of him. The kind of discipline he maintains in his life and work, I am certain he will make for a great husband," Rinku told reporters, while departing from her Sukhobrishti complex in wedding attire.

Following Ghosh's unsuccessful 2024 Lok Sabha campaign, his mother relocated from their Kuliana village residence in Jhargram to his New Town home.

Ghosh's associates noted that he needed to return home earlier due to his mother's health concerns.

"When he was a pracharak, Dilip da lived at Sangh Nivas. After his mother moved in with him, Dilip da was finding it hard to manage," said an aide. "Rinkudi is very close to masima, and she likes her," said a mahila morcha functionary.
