Who is Raman Singh
A member of the Bhartiya Janta Party, Raman Singh was elected as the second chief minister of the state of Chhattisgarh in 2003. In 2013, he won re-election for his third term as the CM of the state. In 1999, he was elected to the 13th Lok Sabha and went on to become the Union minister of state for commerce and industry under the government of Atal Bihari Vajpayee from 1999 to 2003. In 2003, he was appointed as the president of the saffron party and led his party to form the government in the state. The United Nation gave its highest award to Chhattisgarh under the leadership of Singh in recognition of its human development model. Singh was also hailed for his excellent fiscal management policies during his tenure as the chief minister of the state. Raman Singh was born in Chhattisgarh's Rajnandgaon and is a qualified Ayurveda doctor with a degree in MBBS from Raipur's Ayurveda University. He has been awarded the Institute of Excellence Award, National e-Governance award, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam award and Water Digestive award.
