CHENNAI: Police teams from two states are still running in circles and are on a wild goose chase, as they are unable to locate the Calcutta high court judge, Justice C S Karnan .
Even hours after the Supreme Court sentenced him to 6 months jail , police personnel from West Bengal, facilitated by their counterparts in Tamil Nadu, could track not the judge. On Tuesday, in an unprecedented move, the Supreme Court sentenced a sitting judge to jail, and made it clear that he should be arrested immediately.

The apex court had directed the director-general of police in West Bengal to execute his order and lodge him in a jail.
Till couple of hours after the Supreme Court’s order, Justice Karnan, who was staying at the Tamil Nadu government state house in Chennai, was meeting and discussing nonchalantly with mediapersons and visitors. He then went incommunicado when the full impact of the apex court ruling dawned on everyone.
On Wednesday morning, a posse of policemen, headed by an assistant commissioner of police-cadre officer had landed in Chennai. Initially it was rumoured that Justice Karnan was somewhere in Tindivanam, about 100km from Chennai, and later it was said that he had gone to the temple town of Kalahasti in Andhra Pradesh.
Police teams also rushed to a holiday destination called Tada near Tamil Nadu-Andhra Pradesh border after picking his mobile phone signal. But till 5pm his whereabouts were not known to anyone. Moments after the Supreme Court order, his personal security officer and protocol officer too got delinked from the beleaguered judge.
The vehicle in which Justice Karnan had been travelling is being driven by a government driver, so police teams are trying to contact him, too.
