NEW DELHI: West Bengal now has over 7.04 crore voters in its post-Special Intensive Revision (SIR) electoral rolls, chief electoral officer Manoj Kumar Agarwal said on Saturday.
During the revision, more than 5.46 lakh names were deleted through Form-7. At the same time, over 1.82 lakh voters were added through Form-6 and Form-6A.
Agarwal said over 58 lakh enumeration forms were not received. These cases included deceased, shifted and duplicate electors.
He added that more than 60 lakh electors are still in the “under adjudication” category but have been included in the updated rolls.
The SIR process, the first such statewide revision since 2002, began on November 4 last year with the distribution of enumeration forms. The commission took 116 days to provisionally complete the exercise and publish what officials described as a “final but dynamic” list, as adjudication in several cases remains underway.
