NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated a 13 km stretch of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Namo Bharat Corridor, connecting Sahibabad to New Ashok Nagar. The corridor, built at a cost of Rs 4,600 crores, aims to revolutionise connectivity between Delhi and the NCR region.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) shared a video of PM Modi taking a ride on the Namo Bharat train, where he interacted with school children during the journey. The BJP’s post on X read: “Delhi’s development gets new momentum... PM Modi inaugurated the 13 km long section of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Namo Bharat Corridor. During this, he also traveled in the Namo Bharat train and interacted with children.”




Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva lauded PM Modi’s efforts during the Parivartan Rally, highlighting the Rs 12,200 crore investment in development projects. He praised the central government’s focus on Delhi’s infrastructure growth, mentioning projects like the Rithala-Kundli Metro extension, the Janakpuri-Krishna Park Metro line, and the rapid rail corridor.

“If anyone can develop Delhi, it’s Narendra Modi,” Sachdeva stated, emphasising the transformative impact of these projects on the capital’s connectivity and mobility.


The Namo Bharat Corridor is expected to enhance daily commutes for thousands, strengthening Delhi’s position as a model for modern urban transport.

Meanwhile, Delhi chief minister Atishi celebrated the inauguration of key public transport projects in the capital, calling them a milestone for the city. In a post on X, she congratulated Delhiites on the inauguration of the first phase of the Rapid Rail corridor from Sahibabad to New Ashok Nagar, which connects Delhi to the National Capital Region (NCR).

She also highlighted the launch of the new Krishna Park to Janakpuri West Metro line and the foundation stone laying for the Rithala-Kundli Metro section.

Atishi said, “I am happy that through the joint venture of RRTS and Delhi Metro of the Central Government and the Delhi Government, Delhi is now emerging as a great model of public transport in front of the entire country and the world.”
