Addressing a press conference in Lucknow on Sunday, Mayawati quashed all the rumours of BSP's alliance with other parties and added that they will contest the election alone if they don't get a fair share of seats.

"We will agree to alliance anywhere and in any election only when we get a respectable share of seats, otherwise BSP will contest alone," said the former UP CM.

The BSP supremo attacked the BJP and said that the party at the Centre and in the states are trying to hide their failures by diversionary tactics and are using Atal Bihari Vajpayee's death for political gains.

The BSP chief said, "BJP governments, in states and at the Centre, are trying to hide their failures by diversionary tactics. They have not fulfilled their election promises. They are trying to use Atal ji's death for political gains."

When asked about Bhim Army chief, Chandrashekhar referring to her as 'Buaji' (Aunt), Mayawati said that she has no relation with such people and that she is related to only the common man, dalits and people from the backward castes.

Earlier on Thursday, speaking on the fuel price hike, Mayawati had blamed the UPA and said they had disregarded the interest of the farmers and the poor. Her statement had ruffled many a feather in the Congress rank and file whose leaders felt it would once again raise a question mark on attempts at striking Opposition unity ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
