Despite being a long-standing resident, Rawat discovered his name had been removed from the electoral roll, leaving him unable to exercise his voting rights.

Rawat has consistently cast his ballot from the Niranjanpur area of Dehradun since 2009.

"I have been waiting since morning... but my name was not found at the polling station where I voted in the Lok Sabha elections. They are now searching for it... let's see what happens," Rawat said while talking to PTI.

" Election Commission officials have asked me to wait while they check. I should have been more alert, knowing that BJP is involved in adding and removing names from the voter list," he added.
