Nandana Deb Sen, daughter of Nobel laureate Amartya Sen, denies reports of her father's death

NEW DELHI: Nandana Deb Sen, the daughter of Nobel prize winning economist Amartya Sen, had to go on record on Tuesday to say that her father had not passed away, after media reports went viral claiming that the veteran economist had died at the age of 89.

News agency PTI had earlier tweeted: "Nobel prize winner in economics Claudia Goldin tweets Amartya Sen has died minutes ago". Goldin's account turned out to be a fake.

Minutes later, the news agency tweeted that Sen's daughter had clarified that her father was alive and well.
