Amid ongoing Middle East crisis, Venezuela's acting president Delcy Rodriguez will undertake a five-day visit to India beginning June 3, with talks expected to focus on strengthening bilateral cooperation in areas such as energy, trade and technology.
Announcing the visit, external affairs ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said Rodriguez is scheduled to hold wide-ranging discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi during her stay.
Rodriguez will be accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising several ministers, including the ministers of foreign affairs, economy and finance, science and technology, communication and information, and transportation, Jaiswal said.
The visit, which will continue till June 7, is aimed at further boosting India-Venezuela ties across key sectors.
According to the ministry, "the discussions would involve the full spectrum of India-Venezuela relations and explore avenues for further cooperation in areas of energy security, trade and investment, pharmaceuticals, health care, transportation, and renewable energy."
As part of the programme, the Venezuelan delegation will visit sites connected with the energy, pharmaceutical and automobile sectors "to gain insights into India's technological and industrial capabilities and to explore opportunities for collaboration".
The ministry noted that India has been an important partner of Venezuela in the areas of energy and investment, with Indian public sector enterprises having made significant investments in the South American country's energy sector.
Rodriguez has previously visited India as Venezuela's foreign minister in 2015 and later as vice president in 2019, 2023, 2024 and 2025, making this her sixth visit to the country.
"India and Venezuela enjoy warm and friendly relations, underpinned by cooperation in the energy sector, trade, and shared commitment to the Global South," the ministry said, adding that the visit is expected to further strengthen bilateral ties and deepen engagement across diverse sectors.
