As the electoral fervor engulfs Vadodara Parliamentary Constituency in Gujarat, the recent announcement by the Election Commission on March 17 has ignited anticipation for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. With polling day set for May 7, Vadodara constituency braces itself for a high-stakes showdown between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Indian National Congress (INC), led by Hemang Yogeshchandra Joshi and Jashpalsinh Padhiyar respectively.In the electoral annals of the Vadodara parliamentary constituency, the years 2014 and 2019 stand as significant chapters, reflecting the democratic vibrancy and political transitions within the region.In the 2019 parliamentary elections, the constituency witnessed active participation, with a total of 1,794,896 electors exercising their democratic franchise. This marked an increase from the 1,638,321 electors recorded in 2014, indicative of the growing engagement of citizens in shaping the political discourse of Vadodara.The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) maintained its stronghold in both elections, with Ranjanben Bhatt emerging victorious in 2019.
Her victory was resounding, securing 883,719 votes and reaffirming the BJP's resonance with the electorate.In 2014, the BJP's victory was epitomized by Narendra Modi, who garnered 845,464 votes and later relinquished the Vadodara seat after securing a dual victory in Varanasi. His Indian National Congress (INC) counterpart, Mistri Madhusudan Devram, trailed behind, reflecting the BJP's dominance in the region.Fast forward to 2019, Ranjanben Bhatt's electoral triumph continued the BJP's legacy, with a remarkable victory margin of 589,177 votes. Prashant Patel (Tiko) from the INC stood second with 294,542 votes, indicating the enduring presence of both political parties in the electoral fray.
