They said Rathod moved to Goa 20 years ago, and had been working at Naik’s house for quite a few years. Her husband had died eight years ago.
Police sources said Rathod was strangulated at around 3.30am. They said the accused stole gold earrings and a mobile after the murder.
Rathod’s son lodged a complaint against a family friend in connection with the murder. In his complaint, he said that on Saturday his mother had had a fight with the friend. The son said since the family friend was drunk, his mother did not let him enter the house. He said the friend also abused and threatened them with dire consequences.
The doctors who conducted the postmortem said the death was caused due to manual strangulation.
