After a 109-day walk across Telangana, the state’s Congress legislature party leader Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu says jobs and land remain the biggest problems for the poor, the young and the weaker sections. He tells TOI people feel cheated after a decade of BRS ‘misrule’, and claims Congress will sweep the assembly election due later this year:
Was your walkathon across Telangana inspired by Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra?
It was a Congress programme. I walked 1,356 km, from Adilabad to Khammam. I did not get into a vehicle anywhere, had sunstroke twice and took two days off for treatment at the camp. It was the first such padyatra after late YS Rajasekhara Reddy toured undivided Andhra Pradesh in 2003. I lived with the people, and it brought us face to face with people’s grievances. I was in Adilabad forests for 26 days, and spent a lot of time with Gond tribals.
