Uma Bharti in AIIMS Rishikesh; says wants to be present during Sept 30 Babri verdict
BHOPAL: Former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Uma Bharti, who had tested positive for the coronavirus on the night of September 26, has been admitted to AIIMS in Rishikesh for further treatment on Monday. Posting her regular health updates, the senior BJP leader said on Monday that if she gets a favourable report after investigations in the AIIMS then she would like to appear in the special CBI court of Lucknow on September 30 during the verdict in the 1992 Babri Masjid demolition case.
"I have just been admitted to AIIMS in Rishikesh. There are three reasons behind this. First, Dr Harshvardhan (union health minister) is very much worried for me. Second, my fever spiked last night and third, if I get a favourable report from AIIMS after investigations, then I want to appear before the special CBI court in Lucknow the day after tomorrow (September 30)," tweeted Bharti, on Monday.
The former union minister is an accused along with senior BJP leaders Lal Krishna Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi, of conspiracy that led to the demolition of the Babri mosque in Ayodhya in December 1992 by Hindu activists who believed that it was built on the ruins of an ancient temple that marked the birthplace of Lord Ram.
A special court will pronounce its verdict in the Babri Masjid demolition case on September 30. Special judge, S K Yadav has directed all accused persons to remain present in the court when the verdict is being read out. In August, the Supreme Court extended by a month the deadline for completion of trial in the Babri Masjid demolition case involving 32 accused instructing that judgement should be delivered by September 30.
Bharti has been posting regular updates on her condition since she tested Covid positive during her Uttarakhand tour on Saturday night. Earlier she had shared that she got herself tested because of a fever after a stint in the mountains and she quarantined herself near Rishikesh in Uttarakhand.
The BJP leader had also denied that she caught corona from sadhus in Himalayas but, from her driver. Before leaving for Uttarakhand, Bharti had addressed a series of public meetings with Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan on September 14 and 15 in Ashoknagar, Bhind and Tikamgarh districts, ahead of bypolls on 28 seats in the state.
