Ulhasnagar citizen gets civic transport E-buses after 10 years

ULHASNAGAR: The civic transport facility of Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation (UMC), which was shut in the city for the last 10 years, started from Sunday for public after UMC gets 20 new electric buses under the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP) mooted by the central government.

The e-bus services on Sunday in city inaugurated by hands of Kalyan Loksabha MP Shrikant Shinde and UMC Commissioner Aziz Sheikh.

Vinod Kene, Vehicle Incharge of Transport Department of UMC said, "The UMC recently has got 20 electric buses
under the aegis of the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP) mooted by the central government for improving air quality in the country in mission mode and in future civic body to gets additional 100 electric buses under the central government's PM eBus Sewa scheme".

Jamir Lengrekar, Additional Municipal Commissioner of UMC said that, "The 20 e-buses services includes 10 standard 12 meter size e-buses and 10 mini 9 meter size e-buses. These buses will ply in internal roads of city from Ulhasnagar 1 to 5 number and once UMC gets additional 100 buses it will run for citizens travelling towards Badlapur to Murbad region".

It may be recall that UMC earlier were running civic buses into city till 2014 but due to some technical reasons buses operation was shut since than citizens were depend upon private transport buses inside city for transportation.
