JAMMU: Both the pilots critically injured after an

Army helicopter crash

landed on the hills of Shiv Dhara near Patnitop in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday morning have succumbed to their injuries.


The

Northern Command

has paid tributes to both officials and extended deepest condolences to the families of two officials killed in the chopper crash.

Official sources said the two pilots of the

Army Aviation helicopter

who were critically injured were rescued by locals from Shiv Dhar Hills. "The chopper took off from Nagrota this morning before it met with fatality. Injured were evacuated and shifted on foot to a nearby medical facility where doctors declared them brought dead, said sources.

According to official sources, "Both the pilots were Major-rank officers, unfortunately both lost their lives."



PRO Defence Jammu, Lt Col Devender Anand said, "Both the pilots critically injured during the helicopter crash landin were evacuated to the nearest medical facility but later succumbed to their injuries".

Meanwhile, the Northern Command paid tributes to two officers and offered its deepest condolences to bereaved families.

Official handler of Northern Command tweeted: "#LtGenYKJoshi, #ArmyCdrNC and all ranks #salute the bravehearts Major Rohit Kumar & Major Anuj Rajput who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty on 21 Sept 2021 at #Patnitop and offer deepest condolences to their families."



Earlier, Union minister Jitendra Singh said on Twitter that he was "disturbed to receive the news of Army Helicopter crash around Patnitop region".
