Two terrorists shot as Army foils infiltration bid in J&K's Poonch

NEW DELHI: Security forces on Thursday foiled an infiltration attempt by a group of heavily armed terrorists along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch.

According to officials, two terrorists were shot as they tried to sneak across LoC in Khari Karmara area.

However, it was not immediately known whether they were dead or injured.

The officials added that reinforcements have rushed to the scene with thick foliage and a search operation is underway.

Earlier in the day, security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Doda after receiving information about a suspected terrorist movement, police officials said.

A joint operation was undertaken by police and CRPF forces in Dorhu, Basti and the surrounding forest areas of Bhaderwah, commencing at 8.30am. Officials confirmed that the operation was still in progress at the time of the latest update.

The operation was launched after local residents alerted the police upon noticing suspicious activities in the area, officials reported.
