Two jawans martyred as Pakistan violates ceasefire in J&K's Poonch

The ceasefire violation took place on Monday at around 8:30am. One Army and one BSF soldier were killed in the attack at forward defence location (FDL) post of the BSF along the LoC in Poonch district of J&K. One soldier was also critically injured in the firing.

NEW DELHI: One Army and one BSF soldier were martyred when Pakistani troops fired rockets at a forward defence location (FDL) post of the BSF along the LoC in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday.
One soldier was also critically injured in the firing.
The ceasefire violation took place around 8:30am. A junior commissioned officer of the army and a BSF head constable were killed in the attack, a senior officer of the paramilitary force said.

"At about 08:30am, there was heavy firing from Pakistani (army) posts at BSF posts at LoC in Krishnagati sector of Poonch district with rockets and automatic weapons," the BSF officer said.

Troops guarding the border line retaliated effectively, the officer said.
Pakistan troops had breached the truce around 7 times last month. They violated the ceasefire in Poonch sector on April 19 and shelled mortars on forward posts in Noushera sector on April 17.
In 2016, there were 228 instances of ceasefire violation along the LoC, while there were 221 instances of ceasefire violation along the international border (IB).
