Two ITBP Personnel killed in IED Blast in Chhattisgarh's naxal-affected Narayanpur district

Two Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) personnel were killed, and two policemen were injured in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast carried out by Naxalites in Chhattisgarh's Narayanpur district on Saturday, officials confirmed.

The incident occurred around noon near Kodliyar village in the Abujhmaad area when security forces were returning from an anti-Naxal operation. The joint operation involved personnel from the ITBP, Border Security Force (BSF), and District Reserve Guard, launched from the Orchha, Irakbhatti, and Mohandi regions, according to a police official.

The IED blast hit the patrolling team as they were heading back, injuring four personnel who were quickly evacuated to a hospital. "Two ITBP personnel succumbed to their injuries, while the condition of the injured policemen is now stable," the official added.

The two ITBP personnel who lost their lives were identified as Amar Panwar (36) from Satara, Maharashtra, and K Rajesh (36) from Kadappa, Karnataka. Both belonged to the 53rd battalion of ITBP.

Security forces have launched a follow-up operation in the area in response to the attack. Further investigations are underway.
