Troops foil infiltration bid, eliminate Pakistan terrorist along LoC in Rajouri

JAMMU: The Indian Army on Thursday said that it successfully foiled an infiltration bid by neutralizing one terrorist and recovered a cache of arms and ammunition, including one AK-47 rifle and hand grenades, along the Line of Control (LoC) in

Nowshera

sector of Jammu and Kashmir.

Addressing a press conference at Nowshera, Major General

Rajeev Puri

told reporters that on the morning of July 7, a group of terrorists from Pakistan attempted to infiltrate from across the LoC.

“Alert army troops through an integrated surveillance grid and domination fire thwarted the infiltration attempt,” the officer said.

He further added that in the ensuing fight, one heavily armed terrorist was neutralized and his body has also been recovered.

“We have also recovered one AK-47 Rifle, four magazines, two hand grenades, huge quantity of arms and ammunition and certain administrative items," said Puri.

This is reportedly the first infiltration attempt on the Line of Control after the February 25 agreement of maintaining ceasefire along borders between India and Pakistan.
