To fulfil pledge, company building Silkyara tunnel temple

UTTARKASHI: Fulfilling their promise to villagers, Navayuga Engineering Company Limited, which was tasked to construct the Silkyara tunnel, has started building a temple of Baukhnaag Devta near the tunnel entrance. NECL officials and the deity's priest performed the Bhoomi Pujan a few days ago. However, construction will begin only after receiving clearance from higher authorities.

Earlier, a temple dedicated to the local deity was demolished a few days before Diwali, the day when 41 workers got trapped in the tunnel. Villagers believed the collapse happened due to the deity's displeasure.
