Time to have a disclosure law?

NEW DELHI: Political parties are fuming over records relating to the 1971 India-Pakistan war being destroyed. BJP spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad was blunt.
“Victory in the Bangladesh war was India’s first conclusive success over Pakistan. The success of Indian arms in defeating Pakistani army of occupation in Bangladesh is a golden chapter in India’s history. India’s diplomatic and war-time strategy was a milestone...The BJP demands a full-fledged inquiry into missing war history, the government must come out with answers.”
Defence minister A K Antony went with Army’s view that some of the revelations could be “demoralizing”. The missing war records are bound to strengthen the view that India should have a disclosure law like US and UK where after 25 and 30 years, all but very sensitive documents become available to the public.
