How Sanatan Dharma row deepened south-north divide

Last week, Stalin's son Udhayanidhi said that like Covid 19, dengue and malaria, Sanatan Dharma ought to be eradicated because it was the purveyor of social maladies such as sati and child marriage

Tamil Nadu never ceases to surprise and bewilder the north of the Vindhya, not the least because of the relative ease with which it contains its contradictions and gets on with life.

It is home to the largest number of temples in India, more than 40,000 as per the state’s Hindu Endowment Board, and Hindu rituals are elevated to the status of festivals (its people love nothing more than one) celebrated almost daily with a folksy feel, regardless of one’s caste.
