There is a desperate need for single use syringes worldwide and this Indian company has stepped in to meet supply
His factory is churning out 6,250 syringes per minute. But Rajiv Nath says it’s not enough. Too many people in the world need the Covid-19 vaccines, and his syringes have to be available to deliver those injections as quickly as possible.
Nath’s HMD is to syringes what Serum Institute is to vaccines. Already Asia’s largest syringe maker, HMD has been cranking up capacity at its Faridabad factory furiously since June 2020 to produce the AD (auto-disable) syringes needed to administer Covid-19 vaccines. From 500 million per annum in June 2020, HMD’s AD capability has gone up by nearly 100% now, to 900. Nath says he wants to reach 1 billion by June and 1.2 billion by September.
The company has already supplied 177 million syringes for domestic use
