The pressure on startup founders is immense. Become profitable, become a unicorn, go public...the stress goes on. That inevitably takes a toll on their mental health. But nobody wants to talk about depression and mental health, fearing backlash from investors and customers

“My whole life is full of ****shit, and I am surrounded by pretentious ******ds at work all the time.”

That’s part of an Instagram story I’m shown by the founder of one of the country’s most valued startups. As I read it, he deletes the post. “That’s me,” he says, pointing to the anonymous handle. “I keep posting and deleting all the time.”
