Several dead, injured in massive fire

Seven people di​ed and over 50 others were injured following a boiler explosion in a chemical factory which led to a massive fire in the facility located in the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) area in Thane's Dombivli. (Photo: PTI)

​Explosion occurred at noon

Blast could be heard from miles away

Eight fire brigade vehicles rushed

According to fire department officials, as soon as the information was received, a total of eight fire brigade vehicles were dispatched to the scene. The injured workers have been rushed to a local hospital, a civic official said. (Photo: ANI)

Blaze spread to three factories

Maharashtra CM announced compensation

CM Shinde announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh each to the kin of the deceased while assuring that the government would take care of the treatment of the injured. "A high-level enquiry will be conducted and an investigation will be carried out against the accused. No one will be spared. The kin of the deceased will be given Rs 5 lakh each by the state government. The administration will sponsor the treatment of the injured... The company will also compensate the employees," CM Shinde told reporters. (Photo: PTI)
