CHENNAI: A designated CBI court has issued summons to suspended Tamil Nadu DIG of police A P Mohammad Ali and three others for their appearance in the court on January 12 in connection with the multi-crore "fake stamp paper scam".
Besides Ali,the summons were issued by designated judge R Dakshinamurthy to then police inspector Shankar, an LIC official R Sadhu and Nazeem, wife of Nizamuddin, the main accused in the case.

Taking the chargesheet, filed by the CBI on December 13, on file, the Judge also ordered issue of Prisoner on Transfer (PT) warrants against the kingpin behind the scam Abdul Karim Telgi,his associate Nizamuddin and Abdul Wahid, who are lodged in Pune Central Prison for their production in court that day.
He also issued PT warrants for the appearance of Sarfraz Nawaz, Balaji, Jacob Chacko (all lodged in Bangalore Central Prison) and Peter Kennedy, lodged in Chennai Central Prison.
According to the prosecution, the accused conspired and produced fake stamps and sold them in the state, thereby causing the government loss of crores of rupees.
Mohammad Ali, Sankar and Sadhu were arrested on July 1, 2004, and later released on bail in September last year.
They have been charged under IPC sections for criminal conspiracy (120-B),forgery for the purpose of cheating (468), possession of Indian Coin by a person who knew it to be altered (253) and counterfeiting government stamps (255).
The police officer has been also charged under section 13(1)(d) of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
