NEW DELHI: Why is the AG obsessed with Bofors, the SC asked on Tuesday as AG Milon Banerjee, in a slip of tongue, referred to the Bommai case judgment as the Bofors case.
"I read something about Bofors in the newspapers today," Banerjee said trying to get out of the faux pas, but the Constitution Bench headed by Justice Y K Sabharwal didnt let go of this lighter moment during the hearing of the Bihar assembly dissolution case.
Finding advocate Ram Jethmalani, who successfully argued for the Hinduja brothers, sitting in the front row, the Bench asked the AG: "Is Jethmalani the reason for the AG to remember the Bofors case?" When Banerjee replied in the affirmative, Jethmalani said: "I always evoke evil thoughts in him."
