Siddaramaiah row: Quit now, don't hang on and meet Kejriwal's fate, says BJP

NEW DELHI: After Karnataka HC dismissed CM Siddaramaiah's petition challenging the governor's sanction for his prosecution in the alleged Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam, BJP sought his resignation and asked him not to "hang on" and meet the fate of Arvind Kejriwal, who was "thrown out" after a court ruling.

"In this new India, politicians who used to think that they could loot, scam and get away with these scams are realising that it is not possible. CM Siddaramaiah has been involved in the MUDA scam. He gifted an extensive amount of land to his family. This is the same for Kharge's family and for many other Congress leaders in Karnataka," former Union minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar said.

"The long arm of the law will inevitably catch those who are trying to loot assets and resources meant for the people. The HC has today ruled that the governor's sanction is correct. It opens the door for an investigation into the scam. I think it is time for Siddaramaiah to resign. And not become another Arvind Kejriwal, hanging on to office till he is finally thrown out," the BJP neta added.

He also asked LoP Rahul Gandhi to clarify the party's stand on the issue.
