Speaking at the first convocation ceremony of Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil University in Satara, he said: "What would have happened if a great warrior like Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was not born in this country? Today, I am standing with the name Radhakrishnan. My name may have been something else. There may have been too many Pakistans within Bharat Mata. This (Shivaji) is a great warrior who fought against aggressors."

"Are we against Islam? No, that is all over. We have to live together. But, at the same time, we ought to remember history in its real sense. We must know the truth as it is," he added.
