Shillong Constituency of Meghalaya Lok Sabha Election 2024: Date of Voting, Result, Candidates List, Main Parties, Schedule

NEW DELHI: Voting for the Shillong constituency is scheduled to take place on April 19, 2024, in the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections.

The election results will be announced on June 4, 2024.

The 2019 Lok Sabha elections in Meghalaya were fiercely contested, and the NPP emerged victorious in one parliamentary seat after making considerable gains. The 2019 elections in the Shillong parliamentary constituency had total 1197806 electors. Total number of valid vote was 784190. Indian National Congress candidate Vincent H Pala won and became MP from this seat. He secured total 419689 votes. United Democratic Party candidate Jemino Mawthoh stood second with total 267256 votes. He lost by 152433 votes.

In the 2014 elections, the Shillong parliamentary constituency boasted 980,740 eligible voters. Among them, 619,987 votes were deemed valid. Vincent H Pala of the Indian National Congress emerged victorious, clinching a total of 209,340 votes, thus securing the position of Member of Parliament. Prechard B M Basaiawmoit, an independent candidate, came in second with a total of 168,961 votes, falling short by 40,379 votes.


Vincent Pala of the Indian National Congress, Ampareen Lyngdoh of the National People's Party (NPP), Robertjune Kharjahrin of the United Democratic Party (UDP), and Ricky AJ Syngkon of the Voter's Party of India (VPP) are the candidates running for the Shillong (ST) seat.

Key political parties and alliances in Meghalaya include the INDIA bloc represented by the Indian National Congress, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), and the Regional Democratic Alliance.
