SANGRUR: Bollywood actor Jimmy Sheirgill on Tuesday surrendered before a local court in Moonak in Sangrur district in a defamation case.
Sheirgill and 11 other caste and crew members of Punjabi film, Taur Mittran Di, are accused of portraying lawyers in poor light.
Apart from Sheirgill, director Navniat Singh, executive producer John Cherian and story writer Dheeraj Rattan also surrendered before the court of sub-divisional judicial magistrate Harsimranjit Singh.
Later, all four were provided bail on bail bonds of Rs 15,000 each. Eight more crew members of the film have yet to surrender before the court.
The court on May 29 had issued non-bailable warrants against 12 persons, including Sheirgill.
Arpinder Singh Sandhu, a local lawyer, had on September 7 last year filed a petition in the court accusing the actors of the film of making fun of the lawyers and requested action against all of them for defaming the community.
