PONDICHERRY: A local court on Monday posted the hearing in the Shankararaman murder case, in which the Kanchi seers are allegedly involved, to October 9 following a Supreme Court order staying further trial.The stay was given on a petition by the defence counsel challenging the appearance of Tamil Nadu Special Public Prosecutor in the trial conducted.
The matter was still pending before the apex court.
Separate petitions were filed before the Principal district and sessions judge of Pondicherry, M Chinnapandi citing the reasons for the absence of the six accused, including Kanchi seers Jayendra Saraswati and Vijayendra Saraswati.As many as 24 people are accused in the case which pertains to the murder of the manager of Varadaraja Perumal temple in Kanchipuram.
