Shahabuddin aide tied to Siwan scribe killing surrenders

outside Bhagalpur jail had gone viral, surrendered before a Siwan court on Wednesday.

Kaif is a suspect in the murder of journalist Rajdeo Ranjan and had been absconding since the crime, which took place in a Siwan market on May 13.

Additional director general of police Sunil Kumar said Kaif surrendered before the Siwan chief judicial magistrate court around 3.45 pm. “He has been sent to judicial custody for 14 days,” Kumar said. “The five shooters arrested on May 24 in connection with the killing of journalist (Ranjan) said Kaif had coordinated with them for the murder,” Kumar said.

Kaif ’s pictures had gone viral with Shahabuddin after he was released on bail and subsequently with Bihar minister Tej Pratap. After Kaif ’s pictures surfaced, Siwan police went to court pleading for attachment of his property. This was done on September 16 following court orders.

Police said another sharpshooter Mohammad Javed, who was also seen in the picture with Shahabuddin, is still “absconding”. Apart from Ranjan murder case, Kaif is wanted in connection with an extortion case lodged in August this year.
