NEW DELHI: Fresh from the publicity blitzkrieg of his home production Ra:One, Bollywood star
Shah Rukh Khan is expected to attend the inauguration of the prestigious International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa on November 23.
Khan will be among the several stars, who will attend the 42nd edition of the festival that has seen a significant makeover in recent times.
IFFI organizers have pulled out all stops this year, with a retrospective on two eminent film personalities - Luc Besson (France) and Phillip Noyce (Australia) - by screening their films during the 10-day fest, which will end on December 3. Besson is expected to fly down to Goa, and interact with the delegates during the screening of his selected movies.
IFFI's retrospective section will showcase seven of his films - The Big Blue, Leon, The Fifth Element, The Messenger: The Story of Joan Arc, Angel A, Arthur 3 and Les Adventures Extraordinaires D' Adele Blanc-Sec. Australian filmmaker Noyce will also be honoured in the retrospective section.
There will be a section on soccer as a tribute to Goa, which has been the permanent venue for the fest for the past few years. The special segment ``Soccer in Cinema" will feature films like A Barefoot Dream (South Korea) directed by Kim Tae-gyun, Mario Filho, Creators of Crowd (Brazil) by Oscar Maron Filho, Foot of God (Italy) by Louis Sardiello, Argentina Futbol Club (Argentina-USA) by Juan Pablo Rubio, The Best Women in the World (Germany) by Britta Becker, More Than Just a Game (South Africa) by Junaid Ahmed and Zidane: A 21st Century Portrait (France) by Douglas Gordon and Philippe Parrenodsax.
About 9, 000 delegates are expected to attend festival that will focus on documentaries. Titled voices that heal, the documentaries that will be screened include Arirang, Senna, The Island President, No More Fear and The Chilean Building.
The festival will also have an array of 3D films made by masters like Werner Herzog, Wim Wenders and Takashi Miike, and a section on animation films including The Flying Machine, Arthur 3: The War of the Two Worlds and Chico & Rita.
