Shah: Nehru's indecisiveness stalled Goa's early liberation

PANAJI: Union home minister Amit Shah on Wednesday attributed the delay in Goa's liberation from Portuguese rule to former PM Jawaharlal Nehru's indecisiveness.

"Goa is celebrating the diamond jubilee of its liberation this year, and India is celebrating its 75th year of Independence. It took lot of time for Goa to get liberated. While speaking in Parliament on Tuesday, PM Modi raised the issue about who was responsible for the delay. History is witness that if Nehru's leadership had been decisive, Goa would have got Independence at the same time as the rest of India,"

Shah further said Modi is committed to making Goa a global hotspot for startups.

"BJP's double-engine government is working towards making Goa a preferred destination for startups by 2025. We have set a target to establish more than 500 innovative startups of international standard," he said at another public meeting in CM Pramod Sawant's constituency, Sanquelim.
