NEW DELHI: BJP chief Amit Shah on Sunday asked chief ministers of party-ruled states to focus on the government’s ambitious Jan Dhan Yojana and asked them to ensure 100% implementation in their states. He also urged them to ensure that BJP’s membership drive was in the fast lane to achieve the objective of making it the biggest democratic party in the country.
The chief ministers were in the national capital to attend a meeting convened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss replacing the Planning Commission with a new body.

According to BJP's media in-charge Shrikant Sharma, during the meeting, Shah also pitched for better coordination between the organization and the governments in states so that fruits of government schemes reached people at the grassroots level.
The Centre's decision to celebrate December 25, which is former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee's birthday, as ‘good governance day’ was also discussed in the meeting. Sources said it has been decided that all public representatives of the BJP — from top to bottom — will spend one hour that day for Modi's ambitious Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
Jan Dhan Yojana is a step taken by the Modi government towards bringing economic equality in the country. It is a new scheme which not only provides for families to have accounts but also offers various benefits to them.
New chief ministers — Haryana's Manohar Lal Khattar, Maharashtra’s Devendra Fadnavis and Goa’s Laxmikant Parsekar — were felicitated on the occasion. Parsekar took over as Goa CM after Manohar Parrikar resigned to join the Union Cabinet.
