A dust storm and thunderstorm, accompanied by rain and strong winds blowing at speeds of 50-70 km/h, hit Delhi-NCR on Friday night following several days of intense heat.

As the storm ripped through the national capital, trees thrashed violently while vehicles struggled to navigate through the chaotic traffic. The strong winds associated with this weather event have the potential to wreak havoc on infrastructure in the affected areas.

Minor damage anticipated

Slight damage to makeshift houses, walls, and huts expected which could lead to the displacement of residents and inconvenience for those dwelling in such structures.

Areas affected by dust storms

Adjoining areas of entire Delhi and NCR (Loni Dehat, Hindon AF Station, Ghaziabad, Indirapuram, Chhapraula, Noida, Dadri, Greater Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad were impacted by the dust storm.

Thunderstorm forecast for coming days

The weather office has forecast thunderstorm with rain on Saturday with maximum and minimum temperatures likely to settle at 39 and 29 degrees Celsius, respectively.
